The Basic Components of
Most Applications
Components are the foundation of any business application. In general, they consist of the following: processes, data files, a data base, the ability to print reports, screens (or forms, menus, and other elements of the user interface) as well as security and possibly workflow.
Of course this information—the processes, the screens, the reports and so forth—will tend to be unique to each solution, but the types of information you will be gathering are the same. They are generic. We are calling these types of information “templates.”
